Description: |
A small. Evergreen, climbing shrub with pubescent branchlets. Leaves opposite, ovate or ovate-lanceolate. Flowers small, few flowered, solitary or clustered umbels. Fruit divaricate, follicles tapering to a fine point. |

It is found dry forest of sub-Himalayan tracts of North and East Bengal, Assam, Cachar, Orissa, Konkan, Deccan, and plains of Tamil Nadu. |

Uses: |
The roots and leaves are sweet, acrid, aromatic, emetic, purgative, expectorant, vulnerary, diaphoretic, stomachic and antiviral. They are useful in asthma, bronchitis, whooping cough, dysentery, diarrhoea, hydrophobia, wounds, ulcers, dyspepsia, flatulence, haemorrhoids, gout, vitiated conditions of vata, cancerous tumours and murine leukaemia. |
