Digonestic features: A large spreading tree, with solitary seed in pod.
Description: Deciduous, spreading tree, upto 40 m tall; branches brittle. Leaves bipinnate, 1 m long, 50 cm broad, crowded towards the ends of branches; pinnae 15-20 pairs, each 10-25 x 3-5 cm; pinnules 10-20 pairs, oblong. Flowers bright yellow, large, on erect, branched terminal panicle. Pod obovate, 10 x 4.5 cm. Seed solitary.
Phenology: Fls.: Feb.-May. Frts.: June-Oct. Leaf shedding: Nov.-Dec.
Distribution: Native of Southern America; also found in Honduras, Panama Columbia and Brazil.
