Etymology: In honour of C.R.Markham, who introduced cinchona into India.

  Conservation status: Cultivated in the campus of Forest Research Institute, Dehra Dun.
Digonestic features: Flowers yellow; fruit 30 long.
Description: A tree, 10-13 m high; branchlets lepidote. Leaves 15-30 cm long; leaflets 3-9, elliptic-oblong or obovate, obtusely acuminate, cuneate at the base, 5-14 cm long, entire or serrate. Flowers yellow in terminal and axillary panicles. Capsule ca 30 cm long, minutely puberulous and lepidote; midrib of valves very prominent.
Phenology: Fls.: Sept.-Oct.  Frts.: Feb.-March.
Distribution: Native of Uganda.
Where to see it: Gate No. 2.
Uses: As an ornamental garden.
